As we have just launched our new venture together, we thought you might like to know a little bit more about us and our journey to getting to where we are today.
A 6 month graduate placement originally brought me to Exeter in 1998 and, 20 years on, I am still here, proud to call this amazing city my home!
After 4 years in Operations Management I realised that my passion lay in the people side of business and that’s what sparked my interest in commercial recruitment.
My early career was with one of the world’s largest recruitment organisations, providing me the insight of working with some of the most well-known organisations in the country. But, it is the during the last 14 years that I have really developed my passion and expertise in this exciting and changing industry. Exeter’s boundless growth and development allowed me to recruit for a diverse portfolio of leading local businesses.
Reputation and trust are key in this industry. Katie and I quickly realised that we share the same professional values and vision. We recognised that Exeter is ready for something new which has led us to launch RyderSlade; Exciting times lie ahead!
Outside of work I am a Mum of two, who strives to make the most of everything this wonderful region has to offer: getting outdoors as much as possible at the weekends and supporting Exeter Chiefs with my husband who is Match-day MC at Sandy Park!
I spent 15 years working in London managing a diverse portfolio of commercial clients. During this time I spent 6 years working within the construction and engineering sector, covering the UK and Middle East markets, before a chance opportunity saw me move to Devon.
Five years on, I can say for sure it was the best move I ever made!
It surprised me that, moving out of the London bubble, my commitment to the highest professional standards and my passion for recruitment has appreciably increased during my time here; such is the buzz of working in this remarkable city. Working closely with Jo saw us immediately forge a great working partnership and it was very soon that we realised our future lay in founding our own business based on our shared vision, drive and work ethic.
Away from work I love the south west culture, exploring the countryside and experiencing amazing food and drink from the best producers in the world. I love the coast and am so lucky to have a little bolt hole down in Polzeath on Cornwall’s north shore; my weekend getaway and piece of heaven on earth!
